No student at Rutgers is a virgin to the RUScrew. What is the RUScrew? Well if you don’t know about it yet, fear not it’ll sneak up on you out of nowhere. Reddit defines the RUScrew as “ some measure that the Rutgers University administration commits to its student body that “screws” them over.” While I tried to run from it, it’s caught up with me in every way possible; you name it – classes, parties, dorming…I’ve been screwed over like the rest of us. And you are welcome to read all about it on my blog My First RU Screw. I will be sharing my stories so you can live vicariously through me with the hopes of surviving the RUScrew. As a freshman, I didn’t have a mentor-like figure to guide me through the loopholes that an experienced RU student would know. Arriving to class late because the first three LX busses were too packed, getting kicked off of Webreg while trying to register for classes, and dealing with annual on-campus housing dilemmas are among some of the moments we’ve all muttered “RUScrew” under our breath. Do we love the big, beautiful university we are? We sure do. But there isn’t any denying its drawbacks so here’s your guide around it. Like it, Live it, Learn from it.
